It totally depends on the student’s goals, motivation, availability and budget. Most students prefer to meet once a week to ensure they have enough time to process what they learned during the session and to prepare for the next class. Between sessions, they are assigned different kinds of homework and teaching tools to help you improve your learning (online exercises, videos, podcasts, apps, free flashcard program to build up vocabulary) which are relevant to the previous lesson.

I usually drive to the student’s location (home or office) if it is located within my driving range. Otherwise, the student and I meet halfway. Most my adult students prefer to meet at a convenient public library or coffee shop. I offer my students the possible meeting points:

Conversational Fluency – “You can comfortably hold a 1-on-1 conversation at a normal speaking pace and you can usually get your ideas across regarding a variety of topics without having to repeat yourself or stop to think too much. Your pronunciation is clear and accurate, and you’re easily understood by native speakers”

Even though it depends on a lot of different factors (student’s own ability to learn a new language, opportunities to practice outside my sessions, doing homework, learning vocabulary, etc.), if you start out as a beginner and spend an average of 1 hour per day working on your Spanish, you should able to reach conversational fluency within 8 – 12 months.

I feel that the end goal when learning Spanish is to be able to speak it. My lessons are designed to focus on becoming fluent in Spanish, with an emphasis on developing speaking skills for practical and immediate use.  You will practice Spanish at your level and build up your confidence.
